Mutual funds
- Market and capital risk: investment values can fall, including below your original investment.
- Credit and interest-rate risk: issuer default, downgrades and changes in yields can reduce debt-fund values.
- Liquidity risk: securities may be difficult to sell; redemption restrictions or delays can arise in exceptional circumstances.
- Concentration and strategy risk: thematic, sectoral, small-cap, international and complex strategies may have additional volatility and drawdowns.
- Currency and overseas risk: foreign-market movements, exchange rates, regulations and investment limits can affect outcomes.
- Operational and scheme risk: valuation issues, segregation of stressed assets, scheme changes or winding-up can affect access and value.
SIP, STP and SWP
These are transaction facilities, not guaranteed-return products. Rupee-cost averaging does not ensure profit. An SWP can withdraw your own capital and deplete your holdings; the withdrawal amount is not an assured yield.
Other investment products
Bonds and corporate deposits carry issuer credit and liquidity risk. PMS and AIF investments can involve concentration, leverage, complexity, high minimum commitments, limited liquidity and substantial losses. P2P and invoice-linked exposures can involve default, fraud, enforceability and illiquidity risks; they are not equivalent to bank deposits or mutual funds and may not share the same regulatory protections. Assess each legal structure and provider separately.
Before you commit
Read the current product documents and Riskometer where applicable, check all charges and lock-ins, and ensure the product suits your needs and loss-bearing capacity. Tax treatment and laws can change. Seek appropriate professional help where needed.
